terms of service
these terms govern your use of koalarm (the "app"), provided by rayyan studio ("we," "us"). by downloading or using the app you agree to these terms. if you don't agree, don't use the app.
1. the service
koalarm is an alarm clock app for ios that uses a real-time ai voice agent and gameplay-style challenges to help you wake up. it relies on apple's alarmkit framework, third-party voice providers, and your own device hardware (microphone, camera, motion sensors).
2. subscriptions and billing
- premium features are unlocked via auto-renewing subscription or one-time lifetime purchase, billed by apple through your app store account.
- subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before renewal in your apple id settings.
- refunds are handled by apple per its standard refund policy. we cannot issue refunds directly.
- prices may change. we will notify you in-app before any price increase takes effect.
3. acceptable use
- do not reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the app's source code or assets, except where the law expressly allows it.
- do not abuse, harass, threaten, or attempt to harm the voice agent or use it to generate disallowed content.
- do not use the app for any unlawful purpose or in a manner that interferes with other users or our infrastructure.
- do not depend on koalarm for medication reminders, medical alerts, or any safety-critical wake-up requirement.
4. voice agent disclaimer
the koala is a generative ai persona designed to be sleepy, edgy, and occasionally rude — that's the whole point. it can produce unexpected, inaccurate, or off-tone responses. nothing the agent says is medical, legal, financial, or professional advice. by using the app you accept that ai-generated speech may include surprises.
5. alarm reliability
we go to great lengths to make the alarm fire reliably (alarmkit, safety re-fires, background audio). however, the app depends on ios system services, your device's battery, focus modes, and apple's underlying frameworks, none of which we control. we do not guarantee the alarm will fire under every condition, and we are not liable if you oversleep. always keep a backup alarm for safety-critical wake-ups.
6. intellectual property
koalarm, the koala mascot, the wordmark, and all related assets are owned by rayyan studio and protected by copyright and trademark law. you receive a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to use the app on apple devices you own or control. that license terminates if you violate these terms.
7. third-party services
the app uses third-party services (apple, openai, livekit, revenuecat, supabase, fly.io). your use of those features is also subject to the applicable provider's terms and privacy policy. we are not responsible for outages, defects, or content originating from third parties.
8. termination
you can stop using the app at any time and delete it from your device. we may suspend or terminate access if you violate these terms or if we need to discontinue the service. paid subscriptions remain active for the period already paid for.
9. disclaimer of warranties
the app is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
10. limitation of liability
to the maximum extent permitted by law, rayyan studio shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including missed appointments, missed flights, or lost income arising from oversleeping. our total liability for any claim related to the app shall not exceed the amount you paid us for the app in the 12 months preceding the claim.
11. governing law
these terms are governed by the laws of france, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. any dispute will be resolved in the competent courts of paris, france, except where mandatory consumer-protection law grants you a different venue.
12. changes to these terms
we may revise these terms over time. material changes will be announced in-app or by email. continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
